Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a senior subject matter expert and provide tax expertise in areas like capital structures, legal structures, cross-border reorganizations, transfer pricing, intra-group arrangements, contracting issues, indirect tax issues, tax accounting and reporting, or any other tax matters, and tax strategies that reflect the overall strategy and global initiatives. Each day, you will act as an internal tax advisor for complex tax matters and coordinate the resolution of tax issues. You will also showcase your expertise by providing tax advice in the defined tax area to ensure compliance with local and international tax laws and regulations. The work model for the role is hybrid (#LIHybrid) You will be mainly accountable for: • Identifying tax planning opportunities and risks of non-compliance, proposing measures to mitigate risk, and obtaining support from peers, and the management, in implementing the measures. • Coordinating and ensuring the development and implementation of relevant standards, processes, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of corporate tax matters in your area of responsibility. • Facilitating knowledge transfer, training activities, and best practices sharing in the defined tax practice area. • Overseeing all tax accounting and reporting activities within the scope of your tax practice; and ensuring the accuracy of tax numbers and disclosures in the quarterly and annual reports and financial statements of the ABB group, including sign-off by the group auditors.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor/master's degree in accounting, finance and/or Tax. CPA is a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years proven experience in US tax area (direct or indirect tax), ideally in Manufacturing sector
  • Strong US domestic and international tax skills.
  • Significant experience managing international tax structures, including those with non-US IP ownership and sophisticated transfer prices
  • Knowledge of SAP/CFIN is a plus.
  • Significant exposure to tax matters on Acquisitions, Divestment and internal reorganizations
  • Strong people management skills and leadership orientation
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
