CIRCOR Naval Solutions started in 1897 under Warren Pumps®, following a legacy of pump builders in whose origin span over 200 years in the town of Warren. Under CIRCOR Naval Solutions this division is best known for serving the U.S. Navy's submarine and surface ship programs. The highly engineered and custom-built pumps are made of a wide variety of exotic materials and span an envious range of both centrifugal and positive displacement technologies. CIRCOR Portland Valve is a major valve supplier on the Submarine & Destroyer programs. The company's products include a broad range of specialized valves for various shipboard services.

TITLE: Machinist A

POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

Operating specialized machinery to perform operation of metal working components to specific processes and prints, requiring close tolerances.

Principal Activities

• Plan and perform rough and finish machining on a variety of machines both CNC and manual.

• Perform setups requiring tight tolerances independently. Determine proper operation sequence, select and set tools in cutting head assist programmers to optimize manufacturing of all parts.
• Operate and understand advanced machine tools (i.e. CNC).
• Construct components and parts to extremely tight tolerances.
• Adjust machining parameters to achieve properly documented first pieces and inspect work in progress so that all parts conform to drawing specifications, taking appropriate action if defective parts are found.
• Record labor times and other related data on standard forms
• Provide guidance and direction to employees in the resolution of the complex problems.
• Act as a liaison with other departments, units or organizations.
• Perform other duties as responsibilities necessitate.

Pay Details

• If minimum of 3 years machining experience, starting rate is $34.36/hour (39.51 when on 2nd shift)

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

• Must be able to read Blue prints/Geometric tolerances.
• Experience and knowledge required for advanced machine tools (i.e. CNC).
• Instrumentation /Gaging skills required. Must be familiar with machinist tools and hand tools (micrometers, verniers, indicators, scales, dial bore gage).
• Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be a team player, flexible, and self-directed /self-motivated and possess a positive attitude.
• Must be skilled at problem solving, thinking outside the box, and acceptable of change and innovation. Must be open to coaching and training with a willingness to learn all machines/cells.
• Some physical effort (avg. 25 lbs).
• US Citizenship is required for DOD requirements.

Education & Experience

• Must have HS diploma or GED equivalent; concentration in machining would be a plus.
• Minimum of five years experience required
