Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality is seeking a detail-oriented self-starter to serve as a data analyst/integration specialist to assist the agency in maximizing the value of its data in accomplishing our mission. The primary role for this position will be to assist in establishing and maintaining a data quality program focused on data that we share with external entities, such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other entities. This person will identify issues and implement fixes as necessary to ensure data deliverables are met. This individual will also assist in developing data models and objects needed to support the agency's business functions.

Minimum Qualifications

•Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle and Systems Analysis Methods and Techniques;
•Knowledge of analysis, design and development for both near real time system integrations and data warehouses and architecture and reporting tools: SQL Server, MDS, SSIS, SSRS, DTS, Analysis Services, Tableau, Business R, Python, SAS or others;
•Knowledge of data warehousing, analytic technology, management of large data repositories and relational databases;
•Skills in developing, tuning, and maintaining PL/SQL and T-SQL for both SQL Server and Oracle databases, with an emphasis on ETL logic, staging database structures, exception handling, mass data loading for both relational as well as multidimensional design;
•Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English with developers, data base administrators, information security, business analysts, project managers and with different business users; and,
•Ability to work effectively independently and as a member of a team.
