As a Communications Intern at the UF Health Cancer Center (UFHCC), you will be responsible for working with working with the Assistant Director of Communications to coordinate social media activities on behalf of the Center and our trainees, staff, and faculty, promoting active education programs and opportunities, connecting with current trainees and alumni, and highlighting trainee, staff, and faculty accomplishments and program successes through a variety of internal and external communications tactics.

Job Description:
As a Communications Intern at the UF Health Cancer Center (UFHCC), you will be responsible for working with working with the Assistant Director of Communications to coordinate social media activities on behalf of the Center and our trainees, staff, and faculty, promoting active education programs and opportunities, connecting with current trainees and alumni, and highlighting trainee, staff, and faculty accomplishments and program successes through a variety of internal and external communications tactics.
In your new role you will be responsible for the following:
- Creating and scheduling platform-specific social media content by designing graphics and multimedia projects using Canva or similar programs, photographing events, and writing and updating content.
- Facilitating media requests and attending a weekly media forecast meeting with UF Health Communications staff.
- Carrying out day-to-day social media activities, such as responding to comments and facilitating conversations to drive engagement and strengthen the center's identity.
Expected Salary:
$14 - $15 hourly
Minimum Requirements:
- This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
Knowledge/Experience:
- Awareness of and/or exposure to communication strategies and best practices
- Enrolled in a PR, journalism or communications program.
- Experience in a professional office environment, particularly in higher education, healthcare, research, or similar, preferred;
- Strong desire to learn, seek out, and apply new knowledge, methods, and information;
- Ability to work both independently and in team settings;
- Experience writing with multimedia communication tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work appropriately and professionally in a complex academic and business setting.
