What We Are Looking For: A creative individual with strong attention to detail to assist in the Department of Safety and Professional Services' social media strategy by creating posts and visual elements for the department's social media channels.

Position Summary

This position designs and develops consumer-facing materials for the Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) social media channels, specifically the department's Facebook and LinkedIn channels. This position works with the Communications Director to carry out the social media strategy focused on creating engaging and educational social posts that reinforce the department's mission and work. This work will include, but is not limited to, managing the DSPS social media channels, executing planned social media, and updating the departments social media calendar as needed.

This position may also be responsible for the development of graphics to support social media posts and various writing assignments associated with furthering communication goals, including writing for the DSPS website, department news releases, and other communication functions.

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range (07-05) with an hourly rate of $20.00-$27.00, per hour.

This state agency does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year).

Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.

Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.

Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process. For permanent positions that allow remote work flexibility, it is not anticipated that working outside of Wisconsin (or bordering cities) will be allowed because positions may need to report to office locations in Wisconsin on short notice.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have experience with all of the following:
  • Experience managing social media accounts.
  • Training or experience in communications, news writing, copy editing, or similar
  • Training or experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to create communication materials.
  • Experience capturing photography or videography using professional equipment or cell phone for communication materials.
