The Ohio Department of Health supports a hybrid teleworking model. This position may work a hybrid schedule at the discretion of the manager or supervisor, which will require occasional attendance in the office for training, meetings and other operational needs. Employees must reside within a reasonable distance to their assigned headquarters for compliance with workplace reporting requirements.
Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 13 , Step 1 of the Exempt Pay Range Schedule ($32.51 per hour), with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($34.29) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) is hiring for one (1) Health Planning Administrator 1 in the Bureau of Health Improvement and Wellness (BHIW). This position will supervise assigned staff responsible for the implementation of Violence and Injury Prevention Section (VIPS) Community Harm Reduction Program activities (e.g., approves leave requests, conducts employee performance reviews and approves performance standards and discipline if necessary). It will also implement evidence-based injury prevention (IP) strategies (e.g., programs, policies and system changes).

Additional Duties:
- Plans training in specialized injury prevention and control issues.
- Assists Drug Overdose Prevention and Community Harm Reduction Program Administrator in establishing priorities for local harm reduction program activities (e.g., Project DAWN - Deaths Avoided With Naloxone).
- Acts for administrator to formulate and direct implementation of statewide social marketing campaigns and special projects.
- Supervises assigned staff to coordinate Ohio Injury Prevention Network (OIPP), Ohio Overdose Prevention Network (OPN) groups.
- Supports activities of the OIPP, Ohio OPN harm reduction chair and development of a state plan to include best practices and recommendations, and alignment with existing state plans.
- Assists with solicitations, and reviews and directs review of injury prevention funding proposals submitted for funding by local agencies to determine compliance with agency standards and federal and state guidelines and recommends action to be taken.
- Follows upon approved injury prevention program activities.
- Develops monitoring and evaluation systems for subrecipients and contractors.
- Conducts on-site reviews of assigned program activities in conjunction with assigned staff.
- Directs preparation of and prepares required reports and records for VIPS Drug Overdose Prevention and Community Harm Reduction administrator, state and federal funders, and ODH leadership.
- Plans and monitors annual budgets related to assigned projects.
- Prepares and submits progress reports on the status of federal cooperative agreement activities and objectives.

Qualifications
- 3 yrs. exp. in health program delivery (e.g., program implementation, program coordination, program monitoring & evaluation, budget development, grant writing/review, providing technical assistance) with experience to be commensurate with the job posting.
- Completion of graduate core program in field of public health, health administration, preventive medicine, social work, nursing or other health-related field, or public policy & management/public administration or business administration with education to be commensurate with the job posting.
- Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
