Under the direction of the Community Program Specialist IV (CPS IV) in the Self-Determination Program (SDP) Section, SDP Outreach and Training Unit. The
Community Program Specialist (CPS III) assists, directs, coordinates, and oversees activities of specialist staff, leads the liaisons activities with each regional center and completes the higher-level assignments associated with the State's efforts on implementation, administration and oversight of state activities related to the Self-Determination Program (SDP).
This position is eligible to participate in DDS' hybrid telework schedule. Participation in telework is subject to DDS' guidelines.
The location for this position is to be determined, with availability in Sacramento and Orange Counties. It is not necessary to apply in both counties.

Department Information
The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
The DDS is located in a modern, sustainable and innovative office building at 1215 "O" Street, Sacramento, California. Some amenities of the building include:

Ability to : Manage and assist with the statewide implementation of the Self-Determination Program; work with professional personnel in the field relating to coordinating and developing services for persons with developmental needs; analyze situations accurately and take effective action; communicate effectively; reason logically and creatively; analyze data and present ideas and information effectively; review and edit written reports; and establish and maintain project timelines.
Desired Skills and Experience : Have experience in a variety of analytical tasks, coordinating activities, providing technical assistance, and using effective research skills. Strong communication skills are essential to the successful performance and completion of job duties. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
