The Community Program Specialist IV (CPS IV) is responsible for implementation, administration and oversight of state activities related to the Self- Determination Program (SDP). The SDP provides participants and their families, within an individual budget, increased flexibility and choice, and greater control over decisions, resources, and needed and desired services and supports to implement their Individual Program Plan. The position is largely responsible for organizing and overseeing active and effective stakeholder processes and coordinating and communicating within the Department of Developmental Services (Department) and its partners, including the regional centers and stakeholders.

This position is eligible to participate in DDS' hybrid telework schedule. Participation in telework is subject to DDS' guidelines.

The location for this position is to be determined, with availability in Sacramento and Orange Counties. It is not necessary to apply in both counties.

Department Information
The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.

These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Special Requirements

The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be numbered in the same order as the following areas, typed in 12-point Arial font, single spaced, and be no more than two pages in length. Applicants who fail to answer the questions or submit an SOQ may not be considered.

    • Presenting information including high-profile policy information to high level decision makers and/or the public.
    • Developing programming guidelines and procedures to manage new programs and/or experience managing statewide programs.

    • Leading a team, managing a workload, and providing updates and information to key stakeholders, including upper and executive management.
