The Department of Parking & Transportation at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for a Commute Program Coordinator. The Commute Program Coordinator is a new position that focuses on increasing alternative transportation adoption as a commuting option for UVA faculty and staff as a means of reducing the number of single-occupancy vehicles on UVA Grounds. Under the direction of the Alternative Transportation and Innovation Manager, the Commute Program Coordinator will administer the daily operation of P&T's new commute benefits program using a digital management platform. Responsibilities include oversight of new user setup, benefits and rewards management, data management and analytics, auditing, reporting, marketing, responding to user feedback, and working with the vendor to address system issues. In addition, this position also manages the existing commuter offerings for carpools, vanpools, and regional transit, and will collaborate with Parking and Transportation staff as well as other departments and interest groups to create new initiatives.

The Commute Program Coordinator's duties will aid Parking and Transportation in its core mission of effectively managing the University's parking supply and helping UVA reach its land use goals. The position will also play a significant role in increasing both employee success and satisfaction while reducing scope 3 emissions. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and capable of working with little direct oversight. They will be an effective manager, capable of prioritizing and accomplishing important and time-sensitive tasks while ensuring the completion of delegated responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Trained to use digital commuting management platform and becomes department expert.
  • Effectively helps to build, and then trains and manages a commuting support team of 1-3 members.
  • Develops initiatives to increase desirability of alternative commuting.
  • Compiles and analyzes user data to evaluate the attractiveness and overall effectiveness of the commute program.
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual commute program membership goals.
  • Ensures benefit and reward expenses remain within budgetary guidelines.
  • Works alongside leadership in long-term planning and budget creation.
  • Plans and executes marketing and outreach initiatives for alternative commuting efforts.
  • Develops and implements surveys or control studies to evaluate proposed and current commute program components.
  • Audits programs use to assure requirement compliance.
  • Manages vanpool interest, creation, recruitment, and retention.
  • Works with departments and individuals to address specific commuting needs.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: High school graduate, GED, or equivalent
  • Experience: At least 2-3 years of program administrator and supervisory experience.
  • A valid driver's license with a zero or positive point balance is required
Additional Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management skills and the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle credit card operations efficiently and responsibly.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a robust knowledge base via cross training.
  • Basic working knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to learn parking resource management systems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Primarily a sedentary job. Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

Some days and tasks will require work performed in the field, including most of the time spent standing, climbing stairs/ramps, and walking.
