ABOUT THE Division

General description

The Web Applications Tax and Reporting development team is a talented, dedicated workforce that builds world-class tax solutions. We are looking for a dedicated Back-End Web Applications Developer to join our team building and supporting our custom web applications. In this role, you will be continually challenged and responsible for delivering robust, scalable technical solutions across multiple technologies while interfacing with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and QA to ensure the best possible user experience. On a day-to-day basis you will be working collaboratively, designing and implementing code, unit tests, writing full documentation and adhering to defined standards and best practices. You will also be triaging problems, troubleshooting issues, debugging, and correcting defects. You are a great fit for this position if you are self-motivated, enjoy working in a fast-paced team-oriented environment, are exceptional at attention to details, have excellent communication skills and sound judgement, and maintain and code to development standards.

Work Hours

Work Hours are 8:00AM to 5:00PM, 40-hour week, Monday - Friday. Occasionally work additional hours on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, including working on-call 24 hours a day during a rotation. Hours may change based on business need.

Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must have permanent residency within the state of Texas and must be able to meet in office requirements, which can vary among different sections (i.e. report to office 1 day/month, 3 days/week, etc.). Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking.



Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.

• Three (3) years' experience in back-end application design, development, and support utilizing Spring Boot, Java, and object-oriented design in a microservices environment.

• Two (2) year of experience in design and coding of secure RESTful API endpoints in a microservices environment.

• Experience with Microsoft SQL and SQL Server Management Studio.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Management Information Systems.

• Experience with Java 17+.

• Experience with .NET.

• Experience with Node.js.

• Two (2) years' experience working in Agile Scrum teams.

• Experience writing stored procedures and SSIS packages.

• Experience with DB2 database.

Substitutions

One (1) additional year of experience in programming information systems applications and support may substitute for (30) thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).

In this role you will:

• Performs back-end and API coding tasks in Spring Boot, Java, and related technologies based on business requirements and design in a distributed development environment.

• Develops test cases using Mockito, and related technologies.

• Analyzes software problems and solutions.

• Adheres to established architecture, design & coding standards.

• Coordinates and/or performs research and analysis to define specifications for current or proposed software applications.

• Prepares detailed diagrams/documentation to capture application workflow logic.

• Participates in Agile Scrum team status, planning, and review sessions.

• Participates in structured peer reviews/walkthroughs.

• Responds to problems in an on-call situation 24 hours a day during a rotation.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
