Key Responsibilities:

The Global Compensation Consultant is responsible for working under the leadership and direction of the Managing Director Compensation and/or Sr Manager of Compensation Consulting to support the planning and delivery of all non-executive, non-union employee compensation programs, including base salary, annual or periodic incentives, long-term incentives, profit sharing, job titling and level architecture, business-specific incentives and other related programs for United's Operational/Functional Divisions globally.



Act as Compensation business partner supporting United's OneHR vision and customer-centric mission. Strategic solution provider and expert adviser to assigned client groups [business/divisions/regional leaders] and HRBPs by combining expert knowledge of compensation principles, understanding of business and global market landscape impacting the airlines industry. This role will be a key player in implementing and influencing compensation strategies that align to the overall Total Rewards and HR strategy.



Global Compensation Advisory Lead - Region/Division/Function/Job Family SME

  • As the business compensation Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned businesses/functions, work to gain alignment across multiple Center of Expertise (COEs) such as HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Legal, Finance, Payroll, etc. to ensure United's compensation programs drive desired business outcomes and behaviors
  • Perform analysis of effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation programs and model potential impact of alternatives
  • Provide guidance to the business and develop creative solutions on a variety of total compensation issues including the development/implementation of global job family architecture, career matrices design and appropriate pay structures that reward desired business behaviors
  • Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures recommending plan and process revisions as well as modernized, new cost-effective solutions, consistent with market trends and corporate objectives
  • Keep abreast of external marketplace trends, providing expertise in competitive practice Identification of opportunities to strengthen competitiveness of programs through networking with external compensation professionals


Manage compensation programs, processes and analysis for business aligned groups

  • Guiding through key annual processes of Annual Performance and Rewards and Competitive Reviews
  • Provide business perspective and input on business challenges, as well as for the design of Global Reward programs, policies, procedures, practices, systems, communications and reporting of key metrics
  • Supports job evaluations and external market survey matching
  • FLSA and other regulatory analysis and compliance
  • Bring to life compensation reporting and dashboard analysis for business aligned groups
  • Proactively partner with HR Business partners and Talent Acquisition to provide guidance on complex internal/external job offers


Project management for assigned projects

  • Lead all aspects of assigned projects, including building work plans, engaging internal and external team members, prioritizing and assigning tasks, identifying and mitigating risks, and bringing projects to successful completion
  • Collaborate across HR on programs, initiatives, and issue resolution
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • 4+ years of directly related compensation and/or HR experience in consulting and senior analyst roles
  • 4+ years of International and domestic broad-based compensation experience including strategy development and demonstrates expertise in one or two Compensation core practice areas (e.g., global broad-base pay management, variable programs, sales compensation, recognition, international benefits)
  • Expert knowledge of compensation approaches in the US and globally
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyze data, understand trends and develop recommendations for action based on the analysis
  • Highly responsive and customer service oriented
  • Adaptable and comfortable shifting between high-level design, consulting work, and analytical and operational work
  • Expertise in managing highly complex projects
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • CCP/GRP certifications and Airlines industry experience
  • Preferably in a large, complex-matrix organization or corporate setting
