Job Title: Consultant - Data Centre Technician Support

Data Centre Technician Support for onsite and in-facility deliverables for Labs at Microsoft Campus in Redmond, Seattle

Job Location : Redmond, Seattle, US. (Local candidates with full working rights should only apply)

  • A degree in Computer Science /IT
  • CompTIA A+/Microsoft Certified: Azure fundamentals
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in IT support server management

Deliverables / Responsibility Area / Detailed Job Description

  • Installation and initial configuration of Operating System on servers
  • Installation, configuration, and management of
  • Windows Deployment Server and Windows Server Update Services
  • Configuration of Windows Clustering
  • Responsible for completion of associated network spine cabling for new deployments, moves or device decommissions per cabling procedures.
  • Application of configuration changes and Operating System upgrades to existing servers and associated equipment
  • Installation of new network equipment into the Lab environment
  • Prevention of human error related outages through process improvement and compliance
  • "Walkthrough" activities in each facility daily that will include but not limited to:
  • Proactively identifying visible alert conditions on Server, Storage, or Network hardware
  • Creation of investigation requests and tagging of devices per published walkthrough procedures
  • Coordination of investigation work windows with Customer device owners
  • All Service requests that include but not limited to the below tasks to be ticketed as per SOP.
  • High Priority Ticket Escalations
  • Out of band request validation
  • Perform all Deployment related onsite work, such as the following:
  • KVM Over IP system configuration including power mapping (per server)
  • Operating System Installation via Imaging or other means as required in the request from
  • customer (per server)
  • Provide status/progress updates at specific intervals or when significant milestones are reached, defined as completion of all tasks related to one of the above categories prior to the next scheduled update time.
  • Develop plan for proper installation of net new equipment, identify special cabling, measure for lengths as required.
  • Identify requirements which require pre-labelling such as a SAN or Drive-bays.
  • Validate availability of consumables before deployment date and drive procurement of necessary consumables, when necessary, with appropriate parties
  • Coordinate with deployment project management (DPM) function and a third-party equipment move supplier for deployment executions.
  • Physical inspection of all devices that are received at a lab for a deployment, record and report any instances of unexpected condition (damage, etc.)
  • Perform inventory validation against device list from deployment ticket.
  • Perform device racking, network, ILO, KVM (Including the Dongle) and power cabling and labelling as per MLS standards as well as any unspecified cabling types determined to be required per deployment planning.
  • Run any cabling cross connects when necessary.
  • Ensure all devices are online and working as expected per the deployment plan and take action to resolve any failure conditions as necessary prior to turnover.
  • Input in to CMDB, all asset information like Asset Tag, Serial number, network, and power port details etc.
  • Ensure all devices receive a final comprehensive QC prior to turnover to customer.
