COORDINATOR HEALTH EDUCATION (PART-TIME)

Under general supervision, conducts interventions and data collection activities as specified by research protocols, maintains records, and prepares reports. Develops educational materials and lesson plans for study-specific intervention classes. Reviews and disseminates health-related information and identifies appropriate health education tools. Establishes, maintains, and collaborates with community and state health organizations. Recruit study participants (community and hospital-based recruitment) for health interventions. Responds to the unique needs of study participants. It may require computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Prepare for (complete study-provided training, memorize study protocols, etc.) and provide health behavior change counseling to participants in research studies, including the HABITS study
  • Counseling will be in group and individual format with delivery by videoconference or telephone
  • Counseling will follow pre-specified research protocols, will include but not be limited to motivational interviewing, and will focus on physical activity promotion
  • Assist with coordination of study activities such as scheduling study visits/intervention sessions, explaining intervention activities to participants, and providing participants with timely intervention reminders
  • Will also communicate with participants and other study staff, prepare study materials as needed, complete study forms according to the study protocol, and track study progress
  • Attend regular study-related meetings to plan and coordinate project activities
  • Refine health behavior change intervention materials as needed based on participant feedback and new scientific data
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Hourly W age Range : $18.85 - $30.65

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement

  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in using technology (e.g., text messaging, videoconferencing, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word)
  • Basic understanding of the importance of research protocol rigor and fidelity, including the principles and procedures of clinical research
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, changing work environment
  • Flexible availability with regard to work hours to accommodate intervention sessions delivered across multiple time zones
  • Ability to work independently; effectively communicate with participants and staff; multi-tasking and time management skills; proactive, reliable, and self-motivated
