This position will coordinate and provide instruction for the JobStarter program. JobStarter is designed to assist manufacturers in the recruitment of students and community members in the exploration of the manufacturing industry as a potential career choice. This position provides enthusiastic support to students and recruits employer participation in the program to a mutually beneficial project for all involved. Serving as the primary point of contact for the program, the coordinator provides quality care and encouragement throughout the program and will convene community partners, including the employers, on an as needed basis to ensure the program's viability and success. This is a full-time, restricted, grant funded position, with no expectation of renewal.

Specific responsibilities and functions include:
  • Host recruitment sessions and attend outreach events to provide information about the JobStarter program.
  • Field inquiries from prospective students and work to identify qualified candidates.
  • Work with employers and other program partners to schedule meetings to discuss JobStarter curriculum changes, schedule student interviews and company site visits, as well as discuss sources of funding.
  • Maintain regular communication with students via BRCC text service prior to registering, during the training program and post training.
  • Serve as a career coach to students about the manufacturing field and the companies represented in the program.
  • Coordinate and/or develop curriculum and instruct courses. As needed, work to identify subject matter experts to teach the various components of the training program.
  • Schedule rooms and labs as needed.
  • Work with Regional Manufacturing Liaison to identify appropriate sources of funding for tuition and stipends for training program participants.
  • Work with BRCC Public Relations Director, community workforce & economic development partners as needed to market and promote program.
  • Schedule and conduct debrief meetings to identify areas of improvement for program.
  • Other duties as assigned by Academic Dean.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in dynamic student-centered environment with diverse populations
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide effective leadership in implementing a multi-faceted training program with many partners
  • Ability to serve as a coach and provide high quality guidance and support to students prior to, during and after their training
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to speak enthusiastically about a manufacturing training program
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Related training and/or education
  • Understanding of the community college mission
  • Experience in a community college setting
  • Demonstrated experience with intake interviews that identify student needs
  • Demonstrated experience with developing short- and long-term educational plans
  • Experience working in manufacturing
  • Experience developing curriculum and/or coordinating training in a manufacturing environment
