General Information:

Primary Objective of Position
The Corporate and Foundation Relations Operations Specialist is a staff member within the division of University Advancement. The Corporate and Foundation Relations Operations Specialist reports to and takes direction from the Sr. Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. Duties are implemented according to the policies and procedures of University Advancement, the Development Office and the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations.

The primary responsibilities of the position are to provide administrative support to the Sr. Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations and programmatic support to various projects and programs with particular focus on implementing and sustaining business processes to maximize engagement and giving opportunities industry partners and private foundations. The position's most critical requirements are strong project management, interpersonal and organizational skills, great attention to detail and business process implementation and execution.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administrative Support to Senior Director of CFR - calendar management; proactive in anticipating the needs of the Sr. Director
  • Knowledgeable of activities and programs within CFR, Development Office, and University Advancement.
  • Office Operations Management - fiscal duties (budgeting/purchasing/ordering), vendor relationship management (promo items, for example); handles diverse tasks and contributes wherever needed to ensure smooth operations for the entire CFR team
  • Stewardship and Reporting - manage timelines, compile data, assist/develop processes; comfortability approaching team members or gently nudging faculty/staff to keep reporting on time
  • Writing/editing skills OR an interest to learn the proposal development process/contribute to securing funding
  • Interest in philanthropy/growing within UA, desire to make a positive impact - understanding of the purpose of advancement in a university setting
  • Assist CFR with planning and executing a successful Madison Trust Program
  • Desire to grow as a team member through professional development opportunities and professional organization membership
  • Comfortable with technology/willing to learn digital tools - Microsoft 365, Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud, JMU Advancement systems (or CRMs, generally), JMU finance trainings (SPCC/eVA/BOA Works); research databases for funding opportunities
  • Nimble, versatile, adaptable, resourceful, a problem solver
  • Perform other duties as requested/required.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • Previous related experience, preferably in a higher education setting or state agency.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including strong critical thinking/analytical skills and organizational skills.
  • Interpersonal skills that demonstrate respect for others, support for department and organizational goals and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent time-management and detail-orientated skills, and use of effective tracking methods to complete projects.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), email, internet and relational databases.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once.
  • Impeccable customer service skills.
