Under the general direction of the Warden, performs the function as primary liaison and resource person to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), Office of Legal Affairs (OLA), State and Federal Courts, Foreign Consulates, and Prison staff. Conduct training of staff concerning responsibility and changes in litigation policy and procedures. Responsible for gate clearance of all parties relating to litigation at the California Health Care Facility. Provide functional supervision and direction for the Litigation Assistant. Responsible for the compliance with DOM Section 14010.17. Responsibility includes identifying legal issues of the institution and recommend appropriate actions. Serves as the custodian of records and staff representative and ensures coordination between the institution, courts and central office and all attorneys.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
