The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill two Corrections Sentencing Associate positions at either the entry or senior level. This position is based out of Dodge Correctional Institution located in Waupun, WI.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the following: Records Office statewide admission process for the male population, release of persons in our care (PIOC), service of detainers and PIOC housed out of state to include Concurrent-Out-Of-State (CCOS), Interstate Corrections Compact (ICC) and Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA). This includes statewide coordinating of male population admissions to the Dodge Correctional Institution (DCI) reception center for nearly all male PIOCs in the Department of Corrections. Coordination and processing of statewide Revocation Information Requests (DOC-416) for the Division of Community Corrections (DCC). To effectively process nearly all admission computations, including violators, paper admissions, PIOC Retention Program, CCOS, ICC and IGA that have been admitted to DOC.

This position has responsibility for meeting all legal requirements regarding PIOC admission records, and requires an extensive working knowledge of the Statutes, Administrative Code, and changes, as well as court decisions and their proper implication concerning admissions and releases, incarceration, and sentencing computations to ensure the lawful commitment and release of PIOC.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule 02-12forthe Corrections Sentencing Associate entry position with the pay starting at $22.95 and 02-14 for the Corrections Sentencing Associate - Senior position with the pay starting at $26.83.

Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensations Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code.

A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

This position includes the option of a hybrid work schedule (i.e., a combination of on-site and telework) depending on probationary status, work performance, and operational needs of the institution. Any hybrid work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have training and/or experience:
  • Performing mathematical calculations for specific work - related programs (e.g. budget preparation, account, offender sentence computations, etc.).
  • Maintaining records within an office setting.
  • Interpreting and applying policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience:
  • Working with legal documents such as judgments of conviction, revocation orders, warrants, etc.
  • Corresponding with external stakeholders (such as law enforcement agencies, legal aid societies, attorneys, etc.
