Tesla is seeking a seasoned Cost Control Specialist with relevant construction experience to support the buildout of Tesla's global facilities and infrastructure. This position will be directly responsible for managing construction cost, support implementing and tracking change management process for engineering and construction throughout the various stages of the project. Mechanical, electrical, process experience desirable.



Responsibilities
  • Cost Management: Develop and implement cost management programs for mechanical, electrical and process construction projects, including approved budget, total commitments, cost incurred, and invoiced costs. Work closely with project teams to forcase project costs during project execution
  • Change Management/Cost Forecasting: Implement change management and capture associated costs to provide an accurate cost forecast
  • Process Development: Assist in developing project controls processes for current and future Gigafactory projects, including change management, cost forecasting, risk management and earned value. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement
  • Cost Communication: Develop reports/dashboards to communicate cost performance to various teams and different levels of management
  • Cost Analysis & Tracking: Perform trend analysis and actively evaluate project cost performance to identify potential risk areas, validate forcast and communicate those quickly to key stakeholders
  • Reporting: Develop cost tools and reports to communicate project cost metrics and performance with the project team and senior managers so they can make data based decisions
  • Funding: Assist team in preparing project funding requests and risk assessment for work with key stakeholders to identify project risks, and lead the contingency management process
  • Performance Tracking: Track and summarize project performance with other project controls functions and the finance teams and lead ad-hoc cost studies that enable rapid decision - making based payback, rate of return
  • Quantity Surveying: Coordinate a team of quantity surveyors, verify monthly progress protocols, preparing quanity reconciliations and estimating and accounting knowledge
  • Contract Management: able to read and understand contracts, identify requirements to be enforced and applicable for project-close out


Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of experience in change management, cost estimating, cost control and pre-construction services: preferably in industrial, manufacturing, or high tech industries
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction mean and methods in the civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines
  • Comprehensive understanding of cost estimating process and procedures for multi-billion dollar facilities
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Software systems and packages including Aconex, P6, Bluebeam, CAD, and other construction packages
  • Knowledge of construction schedules
  • Knowledge of construction estimating resources such as R.S. Means and Equipment Watch
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills and has demonstrated problem solving ability in cross functional environment
