Scholarly Research, Creative, and Other Professional Activities - All tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to participate in expanding the knowledge base of her/his academic field by conducting research or engaging in other creative activities as appropriate to the faculty member's discipline. Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to research may include but are not limited to: research/creative activity that generates new knowledge and/or synthesizes and/or integrates existing knowledge, publication, an on-going agenda for research, scholarly, and creative activity, and are expected to seek extramural support for their work.
Service to University, the Public, and the Profession - All tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to engage in a program of service appropriate to their discipline. Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to service may include but are not limited to: service to the administration and governance of the University, public service, and service to the profession.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach, advise, supervise, and mentor students in the MA and PhD counseling programs, particularly students with a clinical mental health focus
- Actively contribute to the continuous development and assessment of the overall clinical mental health program
- Actively engage in research and other scholarly activities in counselor education
- Seek externally funded research grants
- Serve on and direct dissertation committees
- Provide service, outreach, engagement, and leadership in the Department, College, and University
Minimum Experience/Education
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
- An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP -accredited university
- Ability to contribute to the CACREP core and clinical mental health counseling specialty
- Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and experience as a clinical mental health counselor
- Experience working with a variety of client populations
- Demonstrates promise of excellent teaching, sustainable research, and service/ outreach/engagement
- Promise of obtaining external grant funding to support one's research
- Involvement in professional counseling organizations
- Teaching experience at the university level (preferred)
