Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

ESH invites applications for the position of CRISIS PREVENTION & RESPONSE TEAM - LEAD (SECURITY OFFICER IV).

Reporting directly to the Crisis Prevention & Response Team (CPRT) Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing supervision to the CPRT staff and general management of the department while on duty. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to scheduling, performance management, general management of the department, responding to emergency codes on the units, assuring the security of the patient population and staff and maintaining control over the safety of patients through efficient and compliant use of DBHDS approved Therapeutic Options de-escalation techniques.

SCHEDULE: Night shift (7PM - 7AM)

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current employee of the Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services (DBHDS).

Considerable experience providing supervision to staff in the military police, law enforcement, corrections and/or mental health/psychiatric facility is required.

Valid Virginia Driver's License with acceptable driving record is required.

Comfortable utilizing appropriate approved procedures (Therapeutic Options) to physically control, confine, and restrain in difficult situations is required.

Additional Considerations

Prior supervision experience to include completing performance evaluations, handling disciplinary actions, maintaining time in automated timekeeping system, and developing staff schedules to ensure staff coverage in the department.
