The Customer Service Professional Lead Worker is an experienced revenue cycle professional responsible for performing and supporting patient revenue cycle and customer care activities in accordance with applicable Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and in adherence to UCSD Health customer service standards. These responsibilities include but are not limited to customer service, patient billing and/or patient account balance collection activities associated with the hospital and professional revenue cycle; and performing lead responsibilities, including daily work assignment schedules, coordinating work coverage, monitoring quality and productivity metrics, resolving escalated patient complaints, assisting with staff training, and escalating work flow and/or patient complaints to department management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training. Related experience includes a deep understanding of revenue cycle operations, particularly in customer service, patient billing, and account balance collection activities. It also encompasses proven experience in managing and optimizing workflow processes, with the ability to identify inefficiencies, analyze existing procedures, and implement improvements to streamline operations and increase overall effectiveness.
  • Working knowledge of the practices, procedures, and concepts of the healthcare revenue cycle. Knowledge of any or all of the following: billing, collections, charge capture, contractual adjustments, third-party reimbursements, and cash management.
  • Working knowledge of reporting instruments, metrics and / or dashboard design.
  • Detail oriented, with demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, set schedules, and complete projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Proficiency in common database, spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Demonstrated communications skills, with the ability to interpret and convey complex clinical finance information in a clear, concise manner. Ability to summarize and present reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of workflows and systems.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment with internal staff in a wide variety of business and clinical areas.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR).
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Certification.
  • Experience as a super user or subject matter expert with in-depth knowledge and hands-on expertise in EPIC.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in revenue cycle operations, including customer service, patient billing, and account balance collection activities.
  • Proven experience in workflow process management, including the ability to identify, analyze, and optimize processes for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Experience collaborating in data gathering, trend identification, and performing financial analysis in revenue cycle operations.
  • Experience with assisting/training newly onboarded team members.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $63,800 - $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.56 - $53.45

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
