GENERAL SUMMARY:

This entry level position is responsible for understanding and completing some of the more basic Shift Mechanic duties, with the intent of gradually increasing exposure to some of the more complex duties associated with that position. The individual must be able to work independently and successfully perform and document a variety of basic preventative maintenance tasks. In addition, assisting Shift Mechanics (as requested) to complete corrective work orders will also help familiarize them with other associated duties of the positon.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Skills Required:
1. High school education required.
2. Must possess valid New York State driver's license and be insurable.
3. Good mechanical aptitude and decision making skills required.
a. Must be able to pass general mechanical aptitude test with a minimum score of 80% is required.
b. Must successfully complete 2 out of 3 hands on mechanical aptitude test
4. Must complete training and demonstrate Shift Mechanic competency to advance within 9 months, or sooner, if management is agreeable. Required to advance to Shift Mechanic position after 9 months or sooner if management is agreeable, from Facilities Maintenance Assistant position.
5. Formal education in a skilled trade's field (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, auto repair, welding, carpentry, construction, etc.) or 1 year of on-the-job experience performing general maintenance/repair and installation work preferred.
6. Ability to follow written instructions in reference to work orders, preventative maintenance tasks and basic assembly tasks.
7. Ability to communicate well with Supervisors, co-workers, hospital staff, patients and visitors required.
8. Ability to portray professionalism associated with the position, work independently with minimal supervision and strive for continuous quality improvement required.
9. Experience in snow removal, painting, plastering, finishing techniques, etc. preferred.
10. Basic computer skills (Word & Outlook) required.

This is a Night Shift position. There is a $4/hr Night Shift differential.
