Cybersecurity Systems Technology Teacher (2023 -24 SY)

General Statement of Duties

• Ensure that daily Instruction and learning is aligned with VDOE standards/competencies.
• The successful candidate will be required to instruct students in Cybersecurity Systems Technology and prepare them for the Security+ Certification.

Essential Duties

The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Professional Duties and Expectations:

• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs of students
• Secures and prepares instructional materials in advance and shows written evidence of preparation
• Assists in the evaluation, selection, and requisition of books, equipment, audio-visuals, and other supplementary materials
• Implements all curriculum programs adopted system-wide in a positive and efficient manner
• Participates in curriculum development appropriate to assignment
• Establishes clear objectives for all learning experiences and communicates these objectives to students
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with students
• Makes use of a variety of resources, materials, and methods to improve the effectiveness of instruction
• Evaluates pupil accomplishments on a regular basis and provides timely feedback to students/families
• Develop business and industry partnerships that support program goals
• Sponsor an active student organization, Skills USA, and support student participate in competitions
• Confers with colleagues, students, and or parents on a regular basis
• Takes all necessary precautions to protect and to maintain facilities, equipment, and materials
• Emphasizes and enforces safety factors within the classroom, building, and throughout school property
• As an extension of classroom management responsibilities supervises students throughout the school as assigned, or as circumstances require
• Maintains a disciplined atmosphere appropriate to the teaching environment
• Establishes reasonable classroom rules with consistent enforcement occurring in a positive way

Minimum Qualifications

State Licensure and Endorsements

• Eligible candidates must hold or be eligible for a VDOE Technical Professional teaching License in one of the following endorsements: Computer Science, Computer Science Specialist, Networking, Business and Information Technology, Electronics Technology, Computer Repair Technology or Computer Systems Technology.

Industry Credentials and Certifications

Eligible candidates should have knowledge and skills in, but not limited to:

• Developing a basic network design and connectivity
• Configuring a network architecture
• Documenting a networks design and configuration
• Determining network limitations and weaknesses
• Implementing network security, standards, and protocols
• Applying industry standards, practices, and network theory in relationship to cybersecurity

Eligible candidates should hold one more of the following industry certifications:

• A+ (CompTIA)
• Network+ (CompTIA)
• CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
• SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)
• CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker)
• SCNP (Security Certified Network Professional)
• CASP (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner)
• CCNA Security
• Security+

Additional Information

This vacancy is for the 2023-24 school year with an July 17, 2023, start date. Annual compensation amount to be prorated to official start date.

• Minimum annual starting salary: $62,440.13 (Bachelors) or $65,437.40 (Masters).
