Position Objective: Provide services as Data Analyst in support of the overall functions of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collects and analyzes data for a variety of studies.
  • Organize, implement, maintain, and archive data.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure consistency, integrity and robustness of data.
  • Serve as intermediary to electronically scan the paper study records of the Vaccine Research Center Clinic to include subject participants research files. 1
  • Organizes data to provide functional reporting.
  • Provide support with data sharing, including public repositories.
  • Perform routine and general data management.
  • Ensure the quality and clarity of the scanned documents, making any necessary adjustments or corrections: Identify and resolve discrepancies that arise with the scanned files. 3
  • Scans all documents in the study participants study folder into the correct study participant file folder in the scanning program.
  • Creates and maintains a variety of reports.
  • Maintain data for past and present studies.
  • Maintain databases for tracking and monitoring activities.
  • Manages storage and backup systems.
  • Follow established policies and procedures for the quality assurance of all study collection interfaces, storage and access.
  • Participates in the development and design of databases for tracking and statistical purposes that incorporate multiple data fields required by scientists.
  • Maintain an electronic filing system by updating the chart locator when necessary: Destroy inactive scanned files according to established procedures.
  • Assists with coordination of statistical data analysis for numerous ongoing studies by collecting, organizing, and tracking information.
  • Work with the data manager to provide data auditing services to studies that are active and ongoing as required to ensure that the quality of the data meets the study goals and quality standards.
  • Manages projects and quickly responds to inquiries about status.
  • Allocate quality assurance resources to ensure data validity and fidelity.
  • Maintain scanners for optimum performance and proper resolution of documents.
  • Maintains confidentiality of study participants health information according to National Institutes of Health, the Clinical Center and Vaccine Research Center policies. 2


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Experience with Database management - Data presentation
  • Proficient in operating scanners and related software
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve scanning issues
  • Familiarity with health information confidentiality regulations and policies
  • Electronic filing systems experience

  • Superior attention to details and accuracy, with excellent planning/organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to embrace change and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
