Data Engineering Lead

Title: Data Engineering Lead
Location: Charlotte, NC. Onsite 5 days per week.
Duration: Direct Hire
Salary $125,000 - $145,000
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.

POSITION PURPOSE: To lead and mentor a team that will analyze, design, develop, implement, maintain and support Data Delivery systems to meet the company's needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Responsibility includes leading a team of data engineers and mentoring in best practices. Familiarity with the Power BI & MicroStrategy architecture and best practices is a plus.
2. Develop & enforce standards in database design & development best practices .
3. Architect and implement data solutions on Azure, leveraging Azure Data Lake and other services.
4. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
5. Lead and set the direction for data engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
6. Complete assigned responsibilities and prepare for team meetings.
7. Mentor and guide junior data engineers, fostering their growth and technical development.
8. Utilize Python for data manipulation, automation, and custom data solutions.
9. Ensure data quality and consistency through data integration, transformation, and cleansing.
10. Participate in on-call rotation and assist with after-hours issues, as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems science, or equivalent experience.
2. Seven (7) + years of comprehensive data warehouse analysis and design experience, with full knowledge of data warehouse methodologies, data modeling and familiarity with operational data stores.
3. Seven (7) + years of experience with T-SQL, Dynamic SQL, Open Query, Merges, ability to derive business logic from code and Knowledge of existing internal metadata objects .
4. Seven (7) + years of experience with ETL Development, Python, Pyspark .
5. Three (3) + years of experience with Cloud environments, Azure preferred.
6. Experience implementing data solutions using Snowflake, Databricks, Azure SQL Database.
7. Experience building data pipelines with Fivetran, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue
8. Experience assisting clients with migrating from legacy to modern data platforms.
9. Working knowledge of general business, quality/regulatory requirements, and /or manufacturing systems is preferred.
10. Must demonstrate proficiency with technical, conceptual, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
11. Must demonstrate ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond to problems creatively.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to view video display terminal images for extended periods.
2. Ability to sit for extended periods.
3. Ability to lift, tug, pull up to forty pounds.
4. Ability to physically operate a computer keyboard and telephone.
5. Ability to travel via automobile and/or airplane.
