Job Summary:
As the Data Migration Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing data migration projects from start to finish. You will work closely with stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors to ensure the migration process is completed on time, within budget, and with minimal disruption to operations. Your role will involve coordinating resources, managing risks, and ensuring data integrity throughout the migration process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timeline, budget, and resource allocation for data migration projects. Define project milestones, deliverables, and key performance indicators.
- Stakeholder Management: Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, manage expectations, and provide regular updates on project progress. Facilitate communication between business units, technical teams, and external vendors.
- Resource Coordination: Coordinate with internal teams and third-party vendors to ensure all resources are available and aligned with project needs. Manage team assignments and track progress against project goals.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues related to data migration, develop mitigation strategies, and address problems as they arise. Ensure contingency plans are in place to manage unforeseen challenges.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that data migration processes adhere to best practices and industry standards. Oversee testing and validation of migrated data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of project plans, processes, and outcomes. Prepare and present regular project status reports to stakeholders and senior management.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of data migration projects.
- Training and Support: Provide training and support to end-users and stakeholders as needed to ensure a smooth transition to new systems.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience managing data migration projects, with a strong understanding of data migration methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with data migration tools and technologies (e.g., AWS, ETL tools, database management systems). Understanding of data integration, transformation, and quality concepts.
- Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage complex projects, including planning, execution, risk management, and stakeholder communication. Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to address and resolve issues efficiently.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data integrity throughout the migration process.
- Experience with cloud-based data migration (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with agile project management methodologies.
- A plus would be working in the Life Sciences Space
- This role requires 2+ days a week onsite in Danvers, MA
