Job Description:

Program Labor Title: Database Administrator

GDIT Labor Title(s): Database Analyst Senior (5-plus years) or Database Analyst Senior Advisor (8-plus years)

Skill Definition: Coordinates changes to databases, tests and implements the database. Plans, coordinates, and implements security measures to safeguard computer databases. Develops standards and user guidelines to access database. Modifies existing databases and database management systems, Plans, coordinates and implements security measures to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure. Schedules, plans, and supervises the installation and testing of new products. Monitors database performance and develops optimum values for database parameters. Specifies users and user access levels. Identifies and evaluates industry trends in database systems.

Required Skills / Capabilities:

Is a self-starter that requires minimal oversight and is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, and administering databases, including security, access, and documentation

Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems

Applies knowledge of API (Application Programing Interface) for data services and databases

Designs, develops, builds, analyzes, evaluates, installs and administers database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management

Designs and implements databases with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, ETL tasks, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods

Prepares system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation

Defines database organizations, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation

Provides technical consulting in the definition, design, and creation of a database environment

Advises applications development staff and users on data-based solutions to business problems, data architectures, database management system facilities and capabilities, and the operation and tuning of databases

Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned

May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals

May serve as a technical team or task lead

Degree Requirements (from an accredited college or university):

Required: Bachelor's degree in operations research, computer science, test engineering, business, mathematics, management science, aviation, aeronautical, or air traffic management/science.

Required Years of Work-Related Experience: 6 to 10 years

Relevant Experience Requirement and Other Information: Database administration and management technical training and certifications are strongly desired, e.g., Oracle Certifications and Microsoft Certified Database Administrator. Familiarity with PostgreSQL /PostGIS and using Python scripts to collect, manage, transfer, normalize, analyze, and generate data visualization is preferred. Higher-level IT and data management degrees desirable.

Airport Operations experience or previous experience supporting FAA-related work also desired.

Master's Degree, MBA, or PhD in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience.

The likely salary range for this position is $103,700 - $140,300. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
