Database Administrator

Overview

GDC IT Solutions is looking for a Database Administrator in the Mechanicsburg, PA area.

Position Overview:

The position is responsible for the day-to-day configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical MS SQL Server systems; ensuring the integrity, reliability and recoverability of data for a wide variety of in-house developed applications and off the shelf software. The position requires solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and requires assumption of on-call duties. The successful candidate will be able to take direction well, yet contribute their own insights when required, working both independently and collaboratively with other teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage SQL Server implementations across all environments from development, through testing to production.
• Maintain database servers and processes to ensure high levels of integrity, reliability and recoverability while keeping performance and security in line with industry standards.
• Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
• Automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
• Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance which includes after-hours deployment of CUs and Hotfixes.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required.
• Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models.
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) options.
• Knowledge of Disaster Recovery (DR) options.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services).
• Experience with SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services).
• Experience with BIS for Visual Studio.
