Primary Skills:

About the role:
As part of the Global Infrastructure Operations (GIO) team, you will be providing operational DB2 database administration support to a variety of platforms and business lines.
May require knowledge of multiple database management systems on one or more operating systems.
Primary duties include database software installation, upgrade/patching, performance tuning, troubleshooting, database migrations, and creation and support of application databases.

Global Infrastructure Operations â Database is a centralized operational database support team, providing support to all Client business groups.
The team partners closely with application platform teams, focused on operational support of database platforms, that deliver products and services to Client customers.

What you will be doing?
In this role you will be responsible for:
Meet commitments and provide excellent customer service at all times with internal and external clients.
Provide status reports (written and/or verbal) that are detailed to tasks and difficulties encountered â enables managers to initiate escalation if necessary and assess areas where changes or additional support may be warranted.
Ensure issues resulting in customer outage is escalated appropriately through GIO management.
Assist application groups with design development that meet current and future business requirements, including; Participate in logical design process of strategic projects and responsible for the physical design/implementation, Provide specific direction on infrastructure design to support applications, Participate as a member of development support team on projects, Follow and meet project timelines and deadlines.
Provide maintenance support of physical databases, including; Creates physical database objectives following established standards and processes employed by database team, Enforce database standards and follows up on inconsistencies, Perform routine reviews of databases and systems to ensure acceptable levels of performance.
Report problem performance areas and recommendations for improvement, Follow up on recommendations and actively pushes for implementation as appropriate, Understand and apply database concepts such as database definitions, parameters, database component placement, reorganization, access methods and security definitions.
Work with capacity planning, operations, application developers and other TSG teams on database performance and access issues.
Provides on call support as needed for on-call issues with database environments and provides follow up and permanent resolution for reoccurring issues.
Implement backup/recovery procedures to protect integrity of data in database environment.
Actively manage backups along with other database administrators to ensure processes are successful and we can recover as a result.
If necessary, participates in recovery of databases and assists with disaster recovery testing and documentation.
Other related duties assigned as needed.
What you will need:
Minimum 7+ yearsâ experience with DB2 LUW
Minimum 7+ yearsâ experience with RHEL
Large scale data migrations from mainframe DB2 to DB2 LUW
Proficient in shell scripting (bash, kshell, cshell, python, perl)
Proficient with configuration management and automation (Ansible)
Excellent customer service skills that build high levels of customer satisfaction for internal and external clients
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
Proven project management skills
Added bonus if you have:
Experience working in banking services sector
Experience with RHEL clustering and high availability solutions
Experience with IIDR Data Replication solutions
Education: Bachelors Degree
