Summary:
SKF Aerospace Sealing Solutions (SASS) is a manufacturing unit within the SKF Independent and Emerging Business division. SASS manufactures Seals and Motion Control Elastomeric Devices for the Aerospace Industry. SASS has been supplying solutions to the Aerospace market for over 70 yrs. The SASS Manufacturing Unit is looking for a Mold Design Engineer, supporting Aerospace products in all phases of the product development process. This engineer works with external suppliers, department engineers and other cross functional internal company personnel to define mold tooling, assembly fixtures and inspection fixtures. This person will create 3D models, drawings, and support the development of new products as well as support and troubleshooting of existing product offerings. The position will also support the Design Engineering group by creating models and archival of customer data. Responsibilities include mold design and development, creation of engineering data which includes models and drawings, working with Design, Process Engineering, and Quality, and working directly with tooling vendors. This person would also be responsible for problem solving, engineering calculations, and simulation/analysis with regard to mold performance and overall product quality.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
  • Mold design IAW internal design standards, AS9100 procedures, and good machine design practices.
  • Supports cross-functional teams to develop and validate the design and manufacture of elastomeric products.
  • Use analytical tools to predict mold shrinkage and mold flow.
  • Assist in resolution of manufacturing issues related to molds.
  • Design of assembly tools and inspection fixtures.
  • Interface with manufacturing engineering to assist in diagnosis of manufacturing problems and reduce scrap.
  • Ability to create design documentation to a high quality level.


Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology or Mold Design.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (ITAR/EAR Compliant).
  • Experience with engineering drawings and parametric 3D modeling systems.
  • Excellent spoken, written communications and PC skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Works with minimal daily supervision.
  • Must be able to work as an individual and in a team environment.

The Following Qualifications are Considered a Plus:
  • Knowledge of rubber molding.
  • A strong background in machining and tool-making technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software programs.
  • PTC ProEngineer/Creo and Windchill.
