Job Summary

This position plays a critical role in the daily operations of University Advancement, provides exceptional customer service, and supports a dynamic team of Development Officers on a variety on a projects and initiatives related to fundraising and Annual Giving.

The Division is comprised of several teams working together, including Development, Alumni Engagement, University Marketing and Communications, and Advancement and Foundation Operations.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$22.18 - $26.00 per hour

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business administration, management, communication, public relations or a field related to the position.
2. Two (2) years of professional level business and/or managerial work experience in a communications focused role. (NOTE: A master's degree in communication studies or closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.)

1. Thorough knowledge and understanding of university policies and procedures.
2. Ability to relate well with external constituencies and provide excellent customer service to faculty, staff, students, donors, and alumni.
3. Ability to perform work with diplomacy, accuracy, and thoroughness.
4. Self-motivation for work performed independently, without direct supervision. Excellent time management and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize numerous projects with different deadlines and arrange tasks accordingly.
5. Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to take initiative, exercise good judgement, and manage competing priorities.
6. Ability to exercise a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, dependability, and accuracy.
7. Working knowledge of word processing, database management, spreadsheets, calendaring, email, and various office machines. (Copier, meeting room technology, etc.)
8. Experience with hiring, supervising, and training student employees.

Work Hours

M-F, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
2. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
3. Move about in various locations within the Alumni Center needed to complete day-to-day work.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
