The role you'll contribute:

The Development Specialist focuses on the Identify stage, where a relationship begins between the individual and the Foundation, and the Engage stage, where the relationship is expanded to further educate prospective donors, of the fundraising “Core Processâ€. Evaluates the interest level of the prospective donor in a service area to determine the level of education that should be provided to bring them to an expanded level of interest. Plans and implements Cultivation stage activities for their beneficiary/beneficiaries which includes, as appropriate, prospective donor education, engendering prospect commitment, confirming potential giving levels and creating multiple Hospital Leadership and Physician relationships in accordance with specified annual/major fundraising goals set forth by the AH Foundation. Works collaboratively with other Foundation Managers and Hospital Leadership to ensure total coverage of the donor/prospect base. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The value you'll bring to the team:

  • Follow the Foundation's "Major Gift Core Process" to Identify, Engage, Cultivate, Solicit and Steward a donor portfolio that includes individuals (major gift donors and grateful patients), corporations, physicians, staff, and administrators.

    • Focus on "Core Process" and soliciting gifts of $10,000 to $100,000 independently. Seek guidance from VP level supervisor in developing solicitation strategy. Model "Core Process" for Development Coordinator level.

    • Meet or exceed visit metrics of 6 to 10 meetings per week, 24-40 meetings per month, and 240-400 meetings per year to help achieve the Major Gift fundraising goal for the beneficiary.

    • Use the "Major Gifts Core Process" to manage a portfolio of 120 or more prospects and solicit 20- 24 Major Gifts per year to meet fundraising goals of $500,000 annually. Bequest/Planned Gift options will be explored with all Major Gifts Donors of age 55 and above as part of the process.

    • Ensure monthly solicitations by creating a balanced portfolio with sufficient prospects at the Identify, Engage, Cultivate, Solicit and Stewardship stages of the Core Process to achieve solicitation goals over a multi-year period.

    • Assists in management of Board/Administrator meetings to communicate a clear message that is compelling and aligned with the Mission/Vision of the beneficiary/Hospital priorities by engaging Hospital Leadership, Physicians, Nurses, Board Members and volunteers.

    • Document all visits, solicits and moves within the "Core Process" in Raiser's Edge for monthly reporting and tracking.

    • Participate in active Pipeline Development activities that help engage potential donors in the life of the organization and will ensure growing a strong portfolio and a long term, sustainable pipeline of potential donors. These include but are not limited to: Board Member Referrals, Existing Donor Referrals, Professional Advisor Referrals, Point Of Entry, AH Foundation Events (Gala and Golf), Planned Giving Forums, Administrator Presentations, Meet the Physician Events, Grateful Patient Events and Grateful Patient Leads from Donor Relations.

    • Work with the Gen Champions (Formerly 1908 Employee Giving) and Annual Fund staff to grow participation rates for both programs in respective beneficiary/ies to fund defined priorities using tools, such as Social Media Platform as well as other Annual Fund techniques to drive giving to the beneficiary.

    • Maintain most current knowledge and skills relevant to the fundraising profession.

    • Assists in management of beneficiary and/or board process to get maximum engagement of Hospital Leadership, Physicians, Nurses, Board Members and volunteers.

    • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed :

  • Bachelor's degree in Non-Profit Management, Healthcare Administration, Sales and Marketing, Business Administration
    • OR Three or more years of successful territory development in a regional or national organization with an active major gifts program
  • Experience in major gift fundraising and capital or "special campaigns" with a track record of raising greater than $250,000 in a twelve-month period (Peferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of the Central Florida region; corporate and civic community (Preferred)
  • Experience in volunteer or professional fundraising (Preferred)
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) (Preferred)
