Harlem Hospital Center has been a bedrock of the Harlem community since 1887. The hospital provides a wide range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic and family support services to the residents of Central Harlem,

West Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood. Harlem is the largest hospital in the area, capable of treating the most seriously ill. Harlem provides over 90 specialized ambulatory care services, dentistry and oral surgery, behavioral health services, and community substance abuse treatment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assignment Level IV
Under direction with the widest latitude for the exercise of independent initiative and judgment, participates in and/or organizes, plans and directs the operational activities of the dietary department in a hospital or institution. In addition to performing the duties of the lower Assignment Levels at a more difficult and responsible level, performs the following:
1. Participates in the formulation of internal regulations and procedural guidelines for the operation of the dietary service.
2. Assists in the preparation and submission of annual personnel service budget, including budget for new equipment.
3. Conducts research and investigates studies regarding new developments in dietetics and the use of modified or special diets in the treatment of diseases.
4. Develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates ongoing quality assurance measures and ensures proper follow-up.

Minimum Qualifications

Assignment Levels III and IV
1. Registration by the CDR as a Registered Dietitian or New York State Certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist.
