What to Expect

The Director, Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and leading an effective compliance management system tailored to HCA's individual business requirements. The Director is responsible for (i) developing and implementing compliance controls to ensure adherence to applicable federal and state laws and regulations, (ii) overseeing the testing and monitoring of compliance controls, (iii) ensuring effective change management as both the law and HCA evolve, (iv) overseeing the license and NMLS filing program and (v) managing federal and state regulatory relationships and examinations and coordinating with the legal team on regulatory investigations.

What You Will Do

1. Provide strategic vision for the function , with a principal focus on ongoing enhancements and evolution of the existing compliance management system and promoting an overall culture of compliance.

2. Lead and manage a team of compliance professionals. Provide guidance and support and ensure that the team has a strong understanding of the business, productive relationships with the first line and that it properly executes responsibilities. Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement. Review, recommend, and implement new techniques and policies aimed at improving the productivity, reliability, technical innovation, and quality of the team's work.

3. Stay ahead of the curve: Maintain working, in-depth knowledge of relevant federal and state consumer and commercial lending laws and insurance laws, and monitor updates, regulatory trends, changes to laws and regulations, and other best practices. Collaborate with various departments to ensure that changes in compliance landscape are understood and are effectively integrated into daily operations. Build and maintain a robust compliance network outside of HCS.

4. Advise the business: Manage compliance risk assessments and follow up when remediation is needed. Review and update Compliance policies and procedures. Oversee an effective training program to enhance the compliance knowledge and awareness of all employees. Provide leadership for new product development initiatives and ongoing brand initiatives. Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with the first line.

5. Assess and report on risks: Effectively interface with executives and other group stakeholders to report on CMS matters, including risk assessment and exposure, regulatory relationships and exams, risk mitigation activities, compliance metrics, etc.

Qualifications

What You Will Bring

• Extensive contact with the CFPB and state regulators in an exam context

• 12 years' compliance experience in the consumer lending space

• Experience leading a team

• Bachelor's degree

• Strong knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing compliance in financial services.

• Strong ability to function as a Business Partner and balance varying perspectives and points of view

• Skilled in development of policies, procedures, training methods and materials.

• Excellent communication skills; ability to interface with legal counsel and business groups at all levels of the organization.

• Strong problem solver; excellent project management skills; attention to detail.

• Effective leadership, management and advocacy skills.

Work Environment

Employees in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is performed in an office environment.

The posted salary range for this job takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; geographic location, and other business and organizational needs. Successful candidates may be hired anywhere in the salary range based on these factors. It is uncommon to hire candidates at or near the top of the range.
