About this role

What will you be responsible for?
Lead the external reporting and technical accounting teams. Partner with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure SEC filings, external reports, and technical accounting research is executed in a timely, consistent, and high-quality manner.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
Key Work Activities:
  • Lead all SEC reporting including 10K and 10Q.
  • Lead other SEC filings including S-3 ASR and S-4.
  • Lead lease, financial instruments, and derivative accounting.
  • Lead all external audit support related to SEC filings.
  • Lead employee benefits plan reporting.
  • Lead assessment and application of US GAAP standards.
  • Partner with Tax for Reporting.
  • Lead assessment and implementation of SEC Climate Rule.
  • Lead finance input on ASR, Climate report, and Tax and Royalties report.
  • Lead ESTMA filings

Your training, skills, and experience

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA required; advanced degree preferred.

Experience:
  • Knowledge of financial statements and reporting process required.
  • Accounting and financial reporting experience with a publicly-traded company required.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements required.
  • Experience with SAP-BPC applications is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in project and program development and management Experience with U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements, as well as compliance reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions (e.g., ESG).
  • Proficiency in applying existing guidance to new and complex business transactions and opportunities.
  • Mining or other extractive industry experience preferred, including operational, financial, and statistical reporting.
  • Experience in related field such as SEC Reporting, Public Accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a team environment.
  • Critical thinking and ability to drive decision making with input from various stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and trends.
  • High attention to detail and critical review skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required.
  • Must possess ability to adapt to a changing environment, handle several tasks concurrently, and work efficiently within time requirements established by department management.

Working conditions and location

The position is located in the Denver Corporate office.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $138,240-$164,160. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.
