Director of Accounts Receivable

Our client is a leading fleet management company specializing in providing comprehensive vehicle solutions to businesses across various industries. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Director of Accounts Receivable to join our client's team and play a critical role in ensuring the financial health of their organization.

As the Director of Accounts Receivable, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire accounts receivable process, managing the team and developing strategies to improve cash flow and minimize bad debt. You will work closely with the finance team and other departments to ensure timely and accurate cash posting, collections and reporting. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong background in financial management, excellent leadership skills and experience in a fast-paced environment.

Director of Accounts Receivable Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the accounts receivable department, including overseeing daily operations, setting performance goals and ensuring team members are motivated and aligned with company objectives
• Develop, implement and maintain efficient accounts receivable processes and procedures to optimize cash flow, reduce days sales outstanding (DSO) and minimize delinquent accounts
• Collaborate with sales, operations and customer service teams to ensure accurate and timely billing, customer communication, and issue resolution
• Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and develop strategies to collect overdue balances and mitigate risk
• Analyze and report on accounts receivable performance, trends and key metrics to senior management
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, resolving billing discrepancies and disputes professionally and efficiently
• Evaluate and improve credit policies, including customer credit assessment and credit limit management
• Oversee the monthly closing process for accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
• Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations and best practices in accounts receivable management

Director of Accounts Receivable Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field is preferred
• 7+ years of experience in accounts receivable or credit management, with 3+ years in a leadership role
• Proven experience in the fleet management, transportation or logistics industry is a plus
• Strong knowledge of accounts receivable processes, financial analysis and accounting principles
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented mindset
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
