Job Description

We are currently seeking a Director of Human Resources Employee Relations and Compliance. The Director will be responsible for directing and conducting employment investigations and resolutions, implementing and overseeing policies, strategies, and programs that ensure compliance with HR regulations, effectively managing HR risks, and handling support processes related to leave of absence and immigration. By leveraging a comprehensive understanding of compliance frameworks and a strategic mindset, the Director will drive initiatives that enhance organizational integrity and employee support. This position will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to develop and implement solutions that align with our business objectives.

  • Ensure company-wide compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including wage and hour laws, employment, and immigration laws (i.e. HIB, I-9 etc.), and leave management.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies and procedures that align with legal requirements and support company goals.
  • Oversee adherence to wage and hour laws, including overtime, minimum wage, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting HR compliance, ensuring the company remains compliant with all relevant laws.
  • Partner with in-house and external counsel on pre-litigation employment matters, administrative claims, EEOC, wage claims and audits.
  • Partner with internal audit and manage responses to external audits or investigations.
  • Provide guidance on HR compliance matters to leaders.
  • Manage and handle HR records compliance functions, such as employment verifications, audit responses, data collection mandates, legal requests, and open records requests.
  • Regularly audit data systems and personnel files, review quality control dashboards and error reports, troubleshoot and resolve errors to support data and records integrity.
  • Oversee the team managing all aspects of leave administration, centralize employee relations, records, and unemployment benefits.
  • Lead complex employee relations issues, ensuring all actions comply with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Advise on employment matters, including employee discipline and termination.
  • Collaborate with HR Leaders to ensure consistent and compliant HR practices for client-assigned employees.
  • Work with HR Business Partners and managers to ensure effective content and delivery of training materials, recommending revisions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage and coordinate with external counsel and employees sponsored employment management and H1B and VISA processes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10-15 years in human resources management, with a focus on strategic HR roles and employee relations.
  • Strong understanding of all HR disciplines, including employment law (FMLA, EEO, ADA, FLSA) and immigration regulations.
  • In-Depth background in investigations and audits and employment compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, consulting, and interpersonal skills; ability to build trust and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HR technology systems (HRIS, ATS, LMS).
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of immigration laws and regulations, including various visa categories and employment-based immigration processes.
  • Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.

Public Storage teammates are expected to work in the office five days each week with the option to take up to three flexible remote days per month.
