Director of Finance

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Executive Support: Supports the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in leading the development of the Council's budget and operating plan; and ensures that resource allocation and utilization reflects and facilitates the achievement of our client's strategic plan. Provides counsel to the CEO in the formulation of overall fiscal policies and plans regarding both short and long-term financial matters.

2. Board Engagement: a member of board committee and is responsible for preparing reports and analysis to support effective governance and decision-making of the Council.

3. Departmental Leadership: Provides leadership and oversight of the Finance, Retail, Product, and Human Resources departments in alignment with the Movement to provide the premier girl leadership experience.

4. Manages Finance and performs the day-to-day operations to ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and financial reporting, and alignment with accounting standards.

5. Oversees Human Resources to ensure effective recruitment, training, and performance management processes and employee policies are in effect. Ensures health and welfare benefits are competitive, payroll and compensation managed, and employee conflicts are resolved.

6. Process and verify invoices and check requests for proper account codes, department codes, discounts, payment terms and the appropriate signature approval.

7. Create and maintain Financial records and filing system in an efficient and effective way to ensure accuracy, and ease of information/invoice retrieval.

8. Build and sustain professional customer focused relationships both internally and externally for responding to questions effectively, resolving billing problems; acts as the Finance Department liaison between departments and vendors.

9. Set up grant codes and coordinate with the appropriate staff (Grant Managers/Grant allocators) to ensure all grant-related cost transfers are prepared accurately and timely with appropriate back-up documentation and entered into the general ledger.

10. Produce and distribute grant reports on a monthly basis. On a quarterly basis, have in depth conversations with grant allocators about budget variances.

11. Performs the month-end close; which includes investigating and resolving transactions impacting the close.

12. Produce and run financial reports.

13. Run and distribute monthly financial statements

14. Account analysis and balance sheet reconciliations.

15. Act as Department representative with [accounting software] (current and enhanced systems).

16. Active participation in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.

17. Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.

18. Act as relationship manager - cultivating and managing the client's banking, endowment and investment management financial relationships.

19. Acts as audit oversight and process improvement within the finance and accounting functions.

Required Skills/Abilities:

1. Strong collaborative skills with the ability to coach and develop high-performance teams.

2. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Power Point, Word, and Excel.

3. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

4. Travel throughout council jurisdiction up to 20% of the time.

5. Capability to provide own transportation and maintain valid operator license

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor's or higher with four years of directly related work experience, and at least five years of managerial experience.

2. CPA or MBA preferred.

3. Demonstrated experience partnering with different departments.

4. Experience in accounting platforms.

5. Experience with NetSuite and Sage 300 preferred.
