Position Summary

This position will have the overall responsibility for the successful development and implementation of strategic, programmatic and operational planning for assigned ECU Health Medical Center service lines. This position serves as an expert to forecast and support the strategic outcomes for these service lines within ECU Health Medical Center. This individual is responsible for collecting data from multiple sources in order to aggregate, analyze and present it in a usable format that will enhance service line growth, revenue, efficiency, key performance indicators (KPI's), and overall operational outcomes.

This position will support operational strategies associated with ECU Health Medical Center's alignment with the organization strategic framework and system service line initiates where appropriate, primarily focused on financial operational excellence for the service line operations within the Medical Center. The Director of Service Line Development will work primarily in coordination with the Vice President of Finance for the Medical Center, the executive over the assigned service lines, the system service line administrators and clinical leaders as well as other organizational leaders across ECU Health and leaders within the 29 county region of eastern North Carolina.

Responsibilities

a. Responsible for development and execution of business plans, annual operating budgets and market assessments as they relate to assigned service lines of ECU Health Medical Center.

b. Responsible for ongoing evaluation of operating expense structure, charge capture and denial activity with assigned areas of responsibility to ensure adhere to budgeted and projected outcomes as well as performance against projected returns on investment for newly implemented business plans

c. Assisting with documentation of improvement plans and action items for identified budget variances and communicating results with the Vice President of Finance for the Medical Center and Executive leaders for the assigned service line.

d. Design Reports, documents and analytical tools that assist service line leaders with the ability to easily comprehend operations.

e. Prepare needed documents, proposals, presentations, research on healthcare topics and reports related to department strategic outcomes and present reports to various organizational, service line and departmental committees.

f. Provide overall support to the department/service line by using data to assist with process mapping, root cause analysis, problem solving and solution design.

g. Ensure data integrity and accuracy by leading and participating in the design of reports and dashboards.

h. Collaborate with other departments within the organization to assess data and develop products/reports to promote outward growth of procedure service lines.

i. Provides expertise related to procedural service line with use of EPIC, People-Soft, EPSI, Strata-Jazz, OpTime, and other needed related software in order to support department/service line growth, revenue and strategic goals.

j. Collaborate with administrators, medical directors, division chiefs, and department chairpersons to support departmental and service line goals.

k.Responsible for coordination efforts associated with facilities, space allocation and renovations for assigned Medical Center service lines.

l. Lead coordination of efforts associated with research, clinical trials and grants for the assigned service lines.

m. Lead development of analytics planning strategies for assigned service lines, including both inpatient and ambulatory settings as appropriate.

n. Partner with ECU Health Foundation to serve as liaison for operational initiatives involving philanthropic resources.

o. Serve as resource to consult and assist in coordination efforts to enhance growth and development activities associated with community programs, population health initiatives and/or opportunities within care coordination initiatives such as Medicaid or Medicare programs.

b. Develops recruitment plans to meet programmatic needs.

c. Utilizes appropriate tools and develops strategies to best utilize and reward staff.

d. Personnel management (posting, recruiting, on-boarding and development) as needed in tandem with new program development and implementation.
a. Interfaces appropriately with Chiefs of Staff, Chiefs of Service, Chairs, Medical Directors, Executive team and others.

b. Demonstrates professionalism in all endeavors and interactions.

c. Acts as a resource for problem-solving within the Medical Center as well as across system service lines.

Minimum Requirements

College Degree plus other schooling is required.

MBA, MHA, MPH or equivalent is required.

Lean Six Sigma or Lean certification preferred

5 years or greater experience is required.
