JOB SUMMARY:

The Director, Software Quality Assurance is a key global leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategy, framework & methodology, tooling, automation, and service delivery of the quality assurance (QA) of UDX's software applications & technology platforms. This individual is the senior technology leader tasked with developing and executing comprehensive software testing approaches for a combination of custom developed & off-the-shelf guest facing & internal software and data/BI/AI solutions (mobile, web, desktop, IoT). This role manages a large testing team of QA leads & engineers globally towards KPI driven software quality & test-driven development culture that supports multiple domains & technologies.

This hands-on leader uses a combination of automated and manual testing techniques that ensure unit/functional testing, system integration testing, performance testing, regression testing, and security testing is done with highest quality in a bi-modal technology ecosystem. This role will partner closely within Digital Technology/engineering, Corporate Technology/Infrastructure/Security, Digital Product/Innovation, PMO, data science; business divisions; and functional support partners like Finance, Sourcing, and HR.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Software QA Service Delivery
    • Oversee day-to-day and long-term software quality service delivery strategy using KPI's
    • Oversee all software QA resources - ensure all testing needs are well planned, properly resourced according to time/budget
    • Lead strategy to ensure testing services are adequately provided for major & minor releases, patches/break fix, and ongoing maintenance & upgrades
    • Build depth in domain for all types of software QA - including but not limited to business application, digital technologies, core guest technologies (ticketing, POS, access control, etc), platform technologies, and business intelligence/data/AI applications
  • Software QA Strategy
    • Lead and oversee the software testing strategy for all UDX applications globally - mobile, web, desktop, IoT
    • Develop, enforce, and oversee deployment consistent testing techniques and tools
    • Be the champion for hyper efficient and fast testing processes.
    • Author and manage the software quality assurance artifacts and ensure adherence and compliance with standards
    • Develop and adapt solution testing approaches that provide UDX with industry best outcomes; contribute to the software engineering quality organizations
    • Ensure positive trend in key testing performance indicators of global application portfolio & support the delivery of UDX technology portfolio; support efforts to simplify and rationalize
  • Cross-Team Collaboration, Team Culture, Staff Development
    • Lead and mentor direct reports/team members in day-to day management and administration of UPR digital transformation
    • Provides clear executive decision-making and priority management; coaches and builds confidence in staff to make good business decisions using technology & analytical thinking
    • Promote working culture of accountability and technology depth to support Universal's physical and virtual business aspirations
    • Drive Universal Culture of team-member satisfaction through effective communication, planning, risk management, and coaching of high-potential candidates at every level of the organization
    • Work seamlessly with other Digital and Technology & business unit leaders to architect and build best in class solutions and experiences
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree (preferred) in engineering, technology, analytics or related fields.

EXPERIENCE:
  • 10+ years in progressive technology delivery and implementation:
  • 10+ years experience in software engineering & quality across custom developed software & off-the-shelf solutions; mobile, web, desktop, and IoT
  • Demonstrated technical ability and proficiency in hands on testing automation, test-drive development, and CI/CD integration
  • Demonstrated experience leading large distributed testing teams (over 100 engineers) through KPI's and processes
  • Demonstrated experience with application/technology simplification & rationalization in legacy environments; previous experience in "bi-modal" technology environments that combine digital/agile with enterprise/monolithic applications
  • Experience in executive communication, relationship building and decision making; expert at stakeholder and partner management

This position requires frequent domestic & international travel.
