Document Services Technician V

The Document Services Technician will assist Print Services with the day-to-day operations of the department. This position is located at 4405 Springdale Road, Austin, Texas.

What you'll do:
The Document Services Technician V performs advanced (senior-level) electronic document imaging and printing services work. Work involves the operation and maintenance of digital imaging equipment and software, scanners, reproduction and bindery equipment; and scheduling and completing print orders and other duplication services. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Sets up and operates digital printers. Reviews job specifications, prepares files for printing; converts all files to PDF documents. Ensures jobs are printed according to customer specifications. Contacts customer for any questions. Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and resolves basic problems. Contacts vendor for needed repairs. Uses assorted bindery equipment to finish jobs. Documents all production data into system. Saves job data in system for future reprints. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:
-Sets up jobs on digital printers, programs machines for correct paper, size, run length, tab insertions, pre-flights electronic files using Adobe Pro and other software, and ensures correct files are used. Troubleshoots problems with machines and resolves basic issues. Contacts vendor for service calls.
-Works with production manager, team leaders, and staff to ensure work is completed correctly, and in a timely manner. Keeps Production Manager aware of any potential delays, inventory shortages, and equipment problems.
-Reviews each Y-85 Work Request (work ticket) before starting any task. Contacts customer if there are any questions.
-Through team leaders and management, handles production problems or concerns in a timely manner. Advises team leaders of delays and or ways to improve the process.
-Assists with operating agency vehicles to deliver, pick up supplies, and assets as needed.
-Assists in preparing and evaluating program budget requests.
-Performs related work as assigned.

You qualify with:
-Five years of full-time experience in the operation of digital imaging equipment and software, scanners and bindery or reproduction equipment work.
-Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.

Must have a valid Texas Class C driver license.

Other Things We'll be Looking For:
Experience working with or knowledge of:
-Operation and maintenance of digital imaging equipment and scanners.
-Types, varieties and uses of papers, inks, chemicals, developers and fixers used in the operation of duplicating and reproduction equipment.
-Operation and adjustment of duplicating and bindery equipment.
-Computer operations and communication networks.

Skilled in:
-Operation of binding, duplicating and reproduction equipment.
-Use of Microsoft Office programs and applicable software.
-Customer Service

Ability to:
-Manage multiple priorities and deliver high quality work with great attention to detail and accuracy.
-Understand and follow directions for scanners and digital imaging equipment and its software.
-Communicate effectively.
-Serve as a lead worker providing direction to others
-Ability to travel within the state of Texas 10% of the time and the ability to lift 65 pounds.
