As the EHS Program Specialist you will be responsible for development and deployment of required EHS programs for the new Muskegon chromatography resin production facility. This is a key role to assure the facility starts up with world class safety programs achieving a culture of all accidents and incidents are avoidable, environmental excellence is expected and sustainable operations is required.

What you'll do:
  • Work with the site leadership team and corporate EHS specialists to develop, implement and execute the necessary EHS programs by leveraging best practices from other Cytiva facilities.
  • Develop and implement inspection programs and implement a schedule of routine inspections for various compliance programs.
  • Develop and implement record retention systems for facility EHS programs.
  • Evaluate site EHS conditions through daily Gemba walks, assessing risks and developing appropriate corrective-action plans & budgets to address deficiencies in comparison to regulations and internal Cytiva and FM Global standards and recommendations. Keep site management well apprised of progress towards closure, inability to close gaps by required deadlines, and other related developments.
  • Create and coordinate site sustainability program according to Cytiva standards and requirements.

    Who you are:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Sustainability or related field required
  • EHS Regulatory knowledge for U.S. federal & state and/or equivalent EHS regulations such as OSHA, EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, DOT, etc. or capable of learning requirements
  • Minimum 8 years of EHS related experience working with manufacturing expansions, production line moves, or construction projects with focus on EHS regulatory compliance, contractor management, and overall change management strategies.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills with an ability to relate and work with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven project and program management skills.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • EHS Professional Certification (eg. CIH; CSP)
  • Construction Safety and Management of Change experience
  • Lean productivity skills

Additional Requirements
  • Frequent walking, bending, stooping, and carrying materials up to 15 lbs; occasional use of stairs up to 4 stories and occasional use of straight ladders up to 20 feet.
  • Working in the field will require the applicant to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves and other necessary PPE for several hours/duration of their field time.
  • Some exposure to high noise areas is expected requiring the use of hearing protection such as ear plugs or earmuffs.
  • Ability to use a computer, including MS Excel, Outlook, and Word; and other job-related software for 8 hours a day
