Description: Job Summary:

Under general supervision instructs, prepares patients and performs cardio-diagnostic tests in the inpatient/outpatient setting. Performs various functions including paperwork, maintaining equipment and other related duties.
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Instructs, prepares patients and performs varied diagnostic procedures, including but not limited to: EKGs, treadmills (in conjunction with an RN), Holter/Cardio-care hook-ups, monitoring of cardiac rehab patients (in conjunction with the •Cardiac Rehab Coordinator), assists physicians with pacemaker monitoring/adjustment procedures, completes all paperwork relating to above delineated procedures as appropriate.

  • Performs routine preventative maintenance and minor adjustment on cardio-diagnostic equipment. Maintains equipment and supplies.

  • Scans EKGs for variance in established norms; notifying physician for same.

  • Performs computer data entry and retrieval, minor computer maintenance.

  • Responds to emergency situations, such as code blue, as assigned.

  • Arranges and confirms appointments for cardiodiagnostic procedures as assigned.

  • Assists with information gathering from cardiac rehab patients, as directed by the cardiac rehab coordinator/designee.

  • Ensures cleanliness of assigned areas, proper functioning of equipment and stock of supplies. Provides safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff in compliance with policy and procedure as delineated in the department Safety and Infection Control manuals.

  • May train and orient assigned personnel as to equipment utilization/procedure, alerts appropriate personnel to difficulties requiring personal attention.

  • Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills when interacting with other members of the health care team and patients. Displays tact, cooperative and courteous behavior with the public, patients, and staff.

  • Actively participates in education programs and staff meetings that are scheduled by the department.

  • Assists members with direction, information on obtaining care, personal physician, etc.

  • Adheres to all Department/Medical Center policies and procedures.

  • Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to: Clerical duties (filing), telephone/fax correspondence, Xeroxing.

  • Promotes, ensures, and improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent with the organizations philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations and quality service.

  • Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsitility (Kaiser Permanentes Code of Conduct) my maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanenetes policies and procedures.
Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Six months (1,000 hours) hospital EKG Technician experience, including knowledge of various types of cardiac equipment including but not limited to EKG, Holter Monitors and Treadmill tests.
