Electric Generation System Specialist I

The Siting, Transmission and Environmental Protection Division (STEP) performs critical planning and environmental review work for siting new energy generation and transmission in a manner that continues to ensure both energy system reliability and compliance with California's environmental laws. In addition, STEP plays a mission critical role to ensure the lifetime license compliance and operation of 76 powerplants under the jurisdiction of the California Energy Commission. Together this work helps maintain the reliable, efficient, clean and safe operation and reliability of California's electric system.

The Energy Commission seeks an Electric Generation System Specialist I for the GIS and Data Management Unit to support and analysis of electric system infrastructure planning and development activities utilizing various types of digital spatial data techniques and methodologies associated with Geographic Information Services.

Minimum Qualifications (MQs): The MQs for this classification can be found at https://www.calhr.ca.gov/state-hr-professionals/pages/4841.aspx . Working Conditions

The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Extensive experience in researching, reviewing, analyzing, and presenting spatial data using Geographic Information Systems.

Experience in managing SharePoint Online, O365, ARCGIS Server, Desktop, ARCGIS Online experience, and Tabelau Desk and Server.

Extensive knowledge in Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, adjust priorities, meet deadlines, and interact professionally with others.

Knowledge of IT Security, standard security practices, and security related applications

Ability to effectively communicate in a variety of ways to a wide audience.
