Position Description:
The Electrical Controls Tech II specializes in turbine emission controls, works independently, adheres to safety, learns advanced equipment, maintains records, and ensures work safety and efficiency.
• Maintains electrical systems and equipment including switchgear, motors, generators, pumps and fans.
• Maintains DC electrical systems and equipment including batteries, chargers, rectifiers and inverters.
• Proactively identifies electrical, programming, and station issues, and provide recommendations for improvement to Area Supervision and Region Technical staff.
• Maintains station and unit level electrical control systems and their components such as PLCs, HMIs and control networks.
• Maintains station and unit level electrical control system end devices such as motor controls, pressure transmitters, pressure switches, temperature sensors, limit switches, solenoids and actuators.
• Maintains safety systems and their components such as ESD panels, gas detectors, flame detectors and manual activation switches.
• Complete scheduled maintenance tasks, including compliance reporting requirements.
• Recognizes, troubleshoots and responds to abnormal conditions associated with electrical components and equipment.
• Assists in planning work and contributing budget related information as required.
• Operates all Station prime movers and compressors, including start, stop, load adjustment, alarm monitoring and initial response as required.
• Monitors unit functions during normal operations and performs periodic checks of all operating variables.
• Sets up station in various operating modes based on system demands.
• Monitors, operates, and performs routine inspections on station air systems, fuel systems, cooling water systems, oil systems, and safety systems.
• Monitors operational pressures and alarm set points.
• Operates station auxiliary operational equipment.
• Operates all station valves.
• Monitors operation of station filter systems and liquids storage systems.
• Responsible for the completion of reports including gas loss, weekly/monthly inspections, environmental facility report, and others as required.
• Consistently works in a safe, responsible manner and actively participates in safety related programs.
• Actively participates as a work group team member and maintains a cooperative work relationship with fellow employees.
• Performs work in compliance with Company policies/procedures as well as external regulatory bodies, such as the Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Administration (PHMSA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through adherence to NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (NEC), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals.
• Assist as needed for pipeline operations.
Requirements:
• High School Diploma and minimal directly relevant training and experience.
• Minimal directly relevant training and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
• Must reside within 30 Miles of the assigned reporting location.
