Overall Purpose

ADS LLC is an IDEX Corporation Water Services and Technology Business, is a leader in wastewater monitoring equipment and services. The ADS Product Development organization is expanding its team to deliver advancements in the invention of low powered, low maintenance IoT connected devices that enable accurate and timely data-driven business decisions. The Electrical Engineer will play a key role in modernizing the approach to design, development, and testing with specialization in circuit board layout design and certification processes.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in transformation of hardware products to deliver leading-edge solutions that leap ahead of the competition and solidify the company's stance as an innovative trusted solutions advisor.
  • Provide the electronics engineering design of device circuitry to include researching, designing, and testing of the electronic components of the hardware system. Experienced in the use of computer-assisted engineering and design software to aid in engineering tasks.
  • PCB design, layout, and placement of complex multi-layer PCBAs to produce low cost, low noise, and high reliability assemblies.
  • Implement electrical circuit to interface environmental sensors requiring excitation and signal conditioning, such as, DAC, ADC, filters, sensors such as pressure, temperature, piezo ultrasonics. Conduct electrical component research, support part obsolescence and supply chain challenges.
  • Utilize a prototype and proof of concept feedback system that enables the ability to rapidly test mechanical, firmware and electronic component design assumptions in lab and field conditions.
  • Design and fabricate test control apparatus and equipment.
  • Utilize ISO controlled design and development process and all required documentation via PLM system.
  • Execute engineering design reviews and participate in cross-functional stage gate approvals.
  • Develop validation and verification test procedures to confirm product specifications including simulation and physical testing.
  • Support and execute against an auditable certification process for assurance of product performance in potentially explosive atmospheres. Become familiar with intrinsic safety requirements and ensure that new designs can meet them and support certification effort and calculations.
  • Assist in all aspects of hardware engineering, offering ideas and innovative concepts to solve problems.
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate with a small team to develop products within requirements.
  • Remain up to date on the latest technologies to drive creative solutions for customers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent professional experience required.
  • 2+ years of professional design experience in schematic and PCB layout design required.
  • Soldering and prototype construction experience
  • Regulatory compliance experience (intrinsic safety experience preferred)
  • ECAD expertise (Altium preferred)
  • Working knowledge of regulatory certification processes and standards preferred.
  • Able to communicate effectively orally and in written form.
