Your Opportunity

In this position of an Electrical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and technologists on multiple projects for a range of public and private sector clients. This is a suitable for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment. Work performed will be under the general supervision of a Senior Electrical Engineer.

Your Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for providing electrical engineering services on small to large scale domestic and international projects. Below are some of the responsibilities but not limited to:
  • Performs calculations to analyze and design electrical system components using industry standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Evaluate, select, specify and design the electrical systems or products for the project.
  • Prepare technical, commercial and construction specifications.
  • Provide guidance, training and mentorship for junior engineers and designers.
  • Assist in the development of new standards and specifications for the electrical group.
  • Work from schematics, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  • Responsible for the design and documentation package for electrical deliverables and electrical models.
  • Assist in the coordination of design and specifications within the context of a multidisciplinary design team.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
  • Support the project team in development of design, documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements.
  • Conduct site observation and/or inspection activities during design or construction phases of the project.
  • Performs thorough quality control of construction documents and provides innovative solutions.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Ability to work with others on small to large complex projects.
  • Working knowledge of electrical CEC and NEC code and industry standards such as IEEE, ANSI, NFPA, and CSA.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with power system software such as ETAP and SKM Power Tools is desired.
  • Experience with Visual or similar lighting design software are a plus.
  • Experience with designing low voltage systems such as AC and DC systems, cable and raceway systems, security and surveillance systems.
  • Ability to create Single Line Diagrams, elevation and layout diagrams including sizing of electrical equipment, Motor Control Schematic diagrams, conduit and cable sizing.
  • Ability to create Grounding Plan and detail drawings for the installation of new equipment, Conduit / Cable Tray Routing Plan drawings, Conduit / Cable Schedule drawings, Electrical Detail drawings, Electrical Equipment Location drawings, PLC Panel Layout drawings, create PLC I/O Schematic drawings, and Control System Architecture drawings.
  • Ability to understand and interpret Vendor information.
  • Develop design documents, material specifications, electrical block diagrams etc.
  • Experience in substation design will be considered as an asset.
  • Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
  • Willing and able to travel occasionally when required.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work and collaborate with a range of internal and external customers.

Salary Range(s):
  • $79,400 - $115,200 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
