Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking Electrical Engineers to support a NAVSEA Maritime mission in San Diego, CA. The team seeks engineers who are familiar with electrical design calculations on board maritime vessels and shipboard systems.
Clearance : Uncleared, can hold up to TS/SCI
Location: San Diego, CA (100% on site)
Responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer:
• Responsible for complex electrical design calculations and drawing development for the construction, maintenance, and repair of maritime vessels and shipboard systems
• Ensuring vessel design is in compliance with relevant regulatory authorities, specifications and customer requirements.
• Responsible for the technical management of design and analyses projects from concept to completion.
• Reviews drawings for compliance, accuracy and ease of production.
• Liaise with production and provide technical support during construction.
• Works with production and project teams to successfully implement vessel and vessel component designs.
Qualifications of the Electrical Engineer:
• U.S. Citizenship required, ability to hold TS/SCI
• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience in the manufacturing, construction (or similar) industry, shipbuilding industry required
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Possesses strong leadership skills, Ability to help grow company culture
• Understanding of scheduling and an ability to adhere to strict deadlines
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, and MS Office products
• Experienced Ship Construction
• Strong working knowledge of Maritime Regulatory Authorities (i.e. ABS, NAVSEA, MIL, USCG, IMO, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience in the design and construction of US Navy vessels
• Thorough knowledge of power distribution, motor controllers, variable frequency drives, lighting systems, and communication systems
• Experience with managing Electric Plant Load Analysis, Short Circuit Analysis, Voltage Drop, and Breaker Coordination Studies
• Thorough knowledge of IEEE standards, ABS rules, IEC standards, SOLAS, Military Specifications, and/or NEC
Compensation of the Electrical Engineer:
• Compensation: up to $70,000 - $102,000 based on years of experience
