Mountain Gateway Community College ( MGCC ) is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of 23 community colleges in Virginia. The college is supported by the Commonwealth of Virginia; the counties of Alleghany, Bath, Botetourt (northern portion) and Rockbridge; the cities of Buena Vista, Covington, and Lexington; and the town of Clifton Forge. MGCC provides opportunities for the extension of knowledge, skills and personal enrichment in an environment that maintains high academic standards and respect for each individual. MGCC seeks a highly motivated and experienced EMS Instructor and Program Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will coordinate, facilitate, and teach EMS training at our campus and outside facilities as needed. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and teach EMS training at MGCC and outside facilities as needed
  • Prepare for inspections and site visits
  • Coordinate VMI EMT training from May-June each year, including facilitating cooperative relationships with VMI staff and students
  • Coordinate communications to prepare for courses
  • Teach credit courses, including but not limited to EMS , HLT 100, HLT 105, and others as assigned
  • Schedule, facilitate, and teach CPR for faculty, staff, and students
  • Work alongside adjuncts to promote opportunities for additional courses
  • Manage adjunct faculty, including scheduling and communicating with them
  • Manage schedules of courses based on the needs of the college
  • Perform other tasks and activities as directed


Additional Responsibilities:
  • Grow Workforce Solutions and Community Education programs at all locations as directed
  • Explore new fastforward program offerings as appropriate

Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Requirements:
  • EMT certification and CPR Instructor Certified
  • 2+ years of experience in EMS education or related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • 1-year teaching experience
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Ability to travel




Additional Considerations
  • Experience in teaching credit courses
  • Familiarity with VMI EMT training programs
