A top employer in the advanced manufacturing and E-vehicle industry is looking for highly motivated Engineering Technicians to join their team. The role involves leading and supporting cell prototype builds, conducting validation and testing, and performing root cause analysis in both manufacturing and lab environments within Advanced Cell Development.
Some responsibilities of the Engineering Technician will include but are not limited to:
- Support activities in the San Diego area, primarily focusing on the cell winding process and operations.
- Fully understand the operation and processes related to the cell JR winding machine, including production winding and capability for machine modifications based on prototype needs.
- Participate in building prototype cells by understanding all build processes.
- Ensure cell production equipment runs smoothly while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Conduct cell failure and root cause analysis to identify causes of production line failures.
- Report on cell validation/abuse testing, conducting various tests such as burst, pull, torque, and CT scans.
- Setup new equipment or test setups with minimal supervision while ensuring safe use of tools and knowledge of air/gas lines and basic electrical safety.

SCHEDULE:
- Monday - Friday

TRAINING:
- On-the-job training for specific processes and equipment usage.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
- Safety protocols will be strictly enforced, especially when working with cathodes, electrodes, and electrolytes.
- This is a dry room environment requiring eye protection, gloves, and safety shoes (i.e. steel toed boots) - all provided by the employer except the boots/shoes.

Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of experience in a mechanical-oriented role, such as an engineering technician, senior operator, or similar positions, working with complex machines and tools.
- Hands-on experience and comprehensive knowledge of product design and root cause analysis, collaborating with engineering to modify, set up, operate, diagnose issues, and troubleshoot automated equipment.
- Experience in setting up and operating equipment and machines using hand tools.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Familiarity with technical automation and hands-on assembly.
- Mechanical background, particularly with nuts and bolts.
- Data collection and mechanical skills will be advantageous.
